Art Hause Village Foundation: A Vision of Healing +Unity

Art Hause Village Foundation, founded by Joifulharvest Tecumseh known as Joi, is dedicated to transforming lives through a holistic approach to rehabilitation and community support. Joi’s mission is to heal trauma using music therapy, art, and a return to natural ways of living. As the fifth great-granddaughter of Chief Tecumseh, Joi carries forward the vision of unity and connection to the land championed by her esteemed ancestor. Art Hause Village Foundation is poised to make a significant impact in Spokane, where it addresses critical needs for transitional support and personal growth.

Joi's Story...

Joi's journey began with "The Art of Healing and Happiness," launched in February 2019, just before the pandemic. This initiative set the stage for transformative projects aimed at nurturing creativity and healing through art. In the summer of 2020, Joi opened the Art Hause in Baltimore, a pioneering space that combined music, healing rituals, and herbal nutrition to support artists. This included launching Baltimore's first hip-hop summer camp, offering free classes to 20 local children. The camp focused on hip-hop history, poetry, and music therapy to help kids with ADHD and other mental health challenges express themselves and find their voices.

Since 2009, Joi has been a beacon of support for artists. Through her radio show, A1 Radio, known for its tagline "The Voice of the Streets," Joi provided a platform for over 100 artists to address community issues and promote positive change. Her extensive experience includes management, marketing, and business development, helping artists overcome substance abuse, launch successful ventures, and create lasting legacies. Notably, her efforts led to street dedications, partnerships with major sports organizations, and more.

Art Hause Village in Spokane

Now, Joi brings her vision to Spokane with the Art Hause Village Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing transitional support for individuals navigating life changes. Spokane faces significant challenges with reentry into society, and Art Hause Village aims to address these by offering comprehensive support rooted in Joi’s innovative approach. This approach combines music therapy, art, and natural living to foster healing and personal growth.

Joi's curriculum, developed in Baltimore, is a testament to her success and is currently used in Los Angeles schools, thanks to the artists she mentored and trained. The curriculum integrates meditation, ancestor connection, herbal remedies, prayer, and other spiritual practices to help individuals overcome trauma and build resilience. Joi’s work with "The Art of Healing and Happiness" in Los Angeles has shown the effectiveness of these methods in fostering personal healing and community development.

Honoring and Building Legacy

Joi’s commitment to integrating indigenous healing traditions with modern therapeutic practices reflects her dedication to honoring her heritage while addressing contemporary challenges. Her lineage, including her connection to the famous lyric tenor Chief Kiutus Tecumseh of the Wenatchee tribe, further enriches her mission. Chief Kiutus Tecumseh’s contributions to music and culture represent a legacy of artistic excellence and cultural pride that Joi continues through her work.

CONCLUSION

Art Hause Village Foundation is more than just a transitional support program; it is a beacon of hope and healing in Spokane. Inspired by a legacy of unity, artistic excellence, and natural living, Joi Tecumseh is poised to make a lasting impact on individuals re-entering society. Through her innovative programs and deep-rooted cultural connections, Joi is helping people rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose, while celebrating and preserving indigenous heritage.
